Tired Eyes

One of my patients recently expressed this concern:

“People always tell me I look tired, what can I do to improve this look for the New Year?”

This is a common question, as patients want to look as young as they feel. Eyes are our forgotten facial expression. Many times when people are told they look tired it is because of the bags below their eyes or the extra skin above their eyes that makes the eyes look closed or tired.

The good new is there is several ways to fix both the lower and upper eyelids to give people a refreshed natural appearance. The fact that the appearance is natural and refreshed it is a popular procedure for both men and women.

The short-term fix for your eyes is with injectables: Botox or fillers. Botox can be used as a liquid brow lift. This will open your eyes without surgery. Fillers such as Restylane can be used to camouflage the bags below the eyes. The fillers and Botox are great in that they are simple procedures that can be done in the office during your lunch break.

The more permanent treatment is with surgery. This can be an upper blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), which removes the excess skin of the upper eyelid. The lower blepharoplasty is where the fat pads that create the bags below the eyes are removed. This combination gives people a lasting result that gives people a subtle refreshed look that will keep people guessing about your beauty secrets!
